Project Background & Rationale

One of the major pillars of Europe's i2010 initiative calls for "inclusion, better services for citizens and quality of life" and emphasises the enhanced use of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) for life-long learning and social inclusion.

ENTITLE (Europe’s New libraries Together In Transversal Learning Environments) is a flagship initiative encouraging a focusing of research and deployment efforts in the field of 'digital libraries', specifically to use high-tech tools to make Europe's rich heritage available to as many people as possible in order to combine individual creativity with ICT.

Adult education in cultural institutions in Bulgaria, Italy, Lithuania, Romania and Turkey

The final research report " Adult education in cultural institutions in Bulgaria, Italy, Lithuania, Romania and Turkey " is available to download.

The research was conducted in the framework of the European project CONNECTION - Cultural Organisations as Communication and Learning Environments.

The report provides an overall image of adult education practices developed by cultural organisations, with the aim to support the development of two training curricula for cultural professionals involved in educational activities and managers of cultural institutions.

UK government announces £20 million programme for libraries and lifelong learning

Museums, libraries and archives can bid for a share of £20 million in Government cash from today to open up new opportunities and build new alliances that will help to secure a thriving informal adult learning movement in the UK.
